Debbie Abbott began her volleyball career at Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas as a varsity player. She began her journey in club volleyball at the age of 16. She played for 3 years with Alamo Juniors, where her team earned the chance to compete in the Junior Olympic National Championships 2 of the 3 years. She received a full ride scholarship to Abilene Christian University. While in high school she began coaching club while she was playing. Her club coaching experience includes 3 years at Alamo Juniors, 2 years for Lone Star Juniors, and 2 years for Conroe Juniors before becoming a coach and a director at Xtreme Volleyball from 2006 – 2010. While at Xtreme Volleyball, Coach Abbott took 3 teams to both AAU and USAV National Championships.
In 2011, she helped create the Texas Diamonds club in Huntsville, Texas. Debbie has also coached at the high school level where she took the reins as the head coach at San Antonio Christian High School from 1989 – 1990. She became the head coach of Covenant Christian School in Conroe from 1997 – 2009 where she led the team to 6 state tournaments (including 2007 State Runner-Up). Debbie is currently the Co-Director of Texas Diamonds Volleyball. In 2015, she coached the 16 Elite team that finished the season ranked 17th in the state of Texas and was 64th in the Nation that year. Debbie’s greatest joy is helping athletes achieve their goals and excel in the sport she loves, including helping several athletes reach their goals of playing college volleyball just like she did.
